Jim Hoekstra is the church planter for Immanuel. Over the last 12 years, he was involved in planting two churches in the Milwaukee area.
He is originally from greater Chicago. He graduated from LeTourneau University (College) and Westminster Seminary California. He and his wife Bonnie have 3 children, and their second grandchild is scheduled to arrive soon (Lord willing).
Seth has been an elder since 2005 and is currently completing a Master of Divinity at Heidelberg Theological Seminary. He likes to pretend he’s the karate kid: he is a big kid at heart and teaches martial arts in his spare time. He and his wife Leann have a full quiver with 8 children: Zoe, Eli, Eve, Micah, Hannah, Charity, Noah, and Ezra. He really loves kids and often teaches Sunday school and helps with the youth group at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hammond, WI. If you meet Seth at one of our worship services make sure to ask him about his time as a semi-professional football player.
Kurt spends his spare time dating his wife Dana as they get footloose and fancy-free on the ballroom floor. He and Dana have four children (Katherine, Christina, Wesley, and Rebekah) and recently welcomed their first grandchild. Kurt has been an elder since 2005, and also serves as the session clerk or secretary. This means he handles the lion’s share of records and formal communication. He also teaches Sunday school at various times. Kurt works as President of Son Tools, Inc. If you bump into Kurt on the dance floor or at church ask him to show you his first car from 1987 (he still owns it!) or invite him over to beat you in Trivial Pursuit.
Kim Kuhfuss has been a teaching elder or pastor for over 35 years. After finishing his training at North Central Bible College, pastor Kuhfuss planted and pastored 3 different churches in the Assemblies of God denomination. Coming to Presbyterian convictions through his personal study of the Bible, pastor Kuhfuss planted Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hammond, WI and has served as church planter at Providence Reformed Church in Chippewa Falls, WI for since 2013. He and Barbara have five children and a handful of grandchildren. When he is not busy planting churches, Kim likes to play board games and enjoy God’s creation while fishing. If you see him at one of our services, offer a guess about how many board games he owns.
Nathan Strom spends most of his free time chasing Anna and wrestling with his two children–Elliana and Noah. He recently left his position at HealthPartners to become a year-long church planting intern at Immanuel. He studied Bible at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. His favorite authors include J. Gresham Machen, Louis L’Amour, and Mark Twain. Nathan and his family enjoy vacations out West and long bike rides together.
